There is 10% water in a 40-litre solution of milk and water. If 10 litres of water are added to this solution, then what percentage of the new solution will be water?
There is 10% water in a 40-litre solution of milk and water.
initial quantity of water = 40 litre of 10%
= $$40\times\frac{10}{100}$$
= 4 litre
If 10 litres of water are added to this solution.
quantity of water now = (4+10) litres = 14 litres
Percentage of water in the new solution = $$\frac{14}{(40+10)}\times\ 100$$
= $$\frac{14}{50}\times\ 100$$
= $$14\times2$$
= 28%
