In a class of 56 students there are 21 girls. The average weight of these girls is 56 Kg and average weight of the full class is 62.875 kgs. What is the average weight of the boys of the class?

Solution

Total number of students = 56 and number of girls = 21

=> Number of boys in class = 56 - 21 = 35

Average weight of girls = 56 kg

=> Total weight of girls = $$56 \times 21 = 1176$$ kg

Similarly, total weight of full class = $$62.875 \times 56 = 3521$$ kg

=> Total weight of boys = 3521 - 1176 = 2345 kg

$$\therefore$$ Average weight of boys = $$\frac{2345}{35} = 67$$ kg
