In a certain code language, ‘POLE’ is written as ‘48’ and ‘ROG’ is written as ‘40’. What will be the code for ‘TIP’ in that code language?

Solution

Place values of letters of POLE are-

P=16, O=15, L=12, E=5

So, (16+15+12+5)=48

Similarly, R=18, O=15, G=7

(18+15+7)=40

Now, T=20, I=9, P=16

So, (20+9+16)= 45
