Question 36

If $$\left(\sqrt{2} + \sqrt{5} - \sqrt{3}\right) \times k = -12$$ then what will be the value of $$k$$?

Solution

$$\left(\sqrt{2} + \sqrt{5} - \sqrt{3}\right) \times k = -12$$
$$(1.414 + 2.236 - 1.732)  \times k = -12$$
By the option B,
$$(1.414 + 2.236 - 1.732) \times \left(\sqrt{2} + \sqrt{5} + \sqrt{3}\right)\left(2 - \sqrt{10}\right) = -12$$
$$(1.414 + 2.236 - 1.732) \times (1.414 + 2.236 + 1.732)\left(2 - 3.16) = -12$$
$$1.9 \times 5.3 \times (-1.16) = -12
-12 = -12
$$\therefore$$ The correct answer is option B.
