When Amar walk from P to Q and return from Q to P on cycle, it takes him 29 minutes. By walking both ways, it takes him 49 minutes. If he rides cycle both ways then what will be the total time (in minutes)?

Solution

Let speed of walking = $$x$$ m/min and speed of cycling = $$y$$ m/min

Let distance between P and Q = $$d$$ m

According to ques, when he walks both ways,

=> $$\frac{d}{x}+\frac{d}{x}=49$$

=> $$\frac{d}{x}=\frac{49}{2}=24.5$$

Also, $$\frac{d}{x}+\frac{d}{y}=29$$

=> $$\frac{d}{y}=29-24.5=4.5$$

$$\therefore$$ Time taken if he cycles both ways = $$\frac{d}{y}+\frac{d}{y}$$

= $$4.5+4.5=9$$ minutes

=> Ans - (A)
