Sumit and Amit undertook a work for Rs 7200. Sumit alone can do the work in 5 days and Amit alone can do the work in 4 days. If they work together, then what will be the difference (in Rs.) in the amount they receive?

Solution

Time taken by Sumit = 5 days and by Amit = 4 days

Efficiency $$\propto$$ $$\frac{1}{time}$$

=> Ratio of efficiency of Sumit and Amit = $$4:5$$

$$\therefore$$ Difference in amount that they will get = $$\frac{(5-4)}{(5+4)}\times7200$$

= $$\frac{7200}{9}=Rs.$$ $$800$$

=> Ans - (A)
