A man covered a certain distance by a train running at the speed of 50 km/hr and covers the same distance back by walking at the speed of 5 km/hr. If the whole journey took 5 hours 30 minutes, then what was the distance (in km) of one side?
Let total distance covered (both sides) = $$2d$$ km
Speed of train = 50 km/hr and walking speed = 5 km/hr
Using, time = distance/speed
=> $$\frac{d}{50}+\frac{d}{5}=5.5$$
=> $$\frac{11d}{50}=5.5$$
=> $$d=5.5\times\frac{50}{11}=25$$ km
