What to Expect in an IIM Interview?

You can expect to be tested in the following ways:

GD rounds

GD stands for group discussion and this method is used by many employers, institutes and individuals for assessing candidates on their communication, knowledge and ability to collaborate in a group setting. It involves giving a topic to 8-12 candidates sitting in a group. Further, the candidates can gather their thoughts and start the discussion on the given topic in first 2 minutes and then you have to discuss it for 8-12 min. The panelist observes the candidates carefully. Not all the IIMs conduct GD round in the interview process but there are some colleges such as XLRI, IIM Shillong conduct GD in their interview process.

PI rounds

PI stands for the personal interview round. GD round is followed by PI round. It is an important stage in the IIM admission criteria. It involves one on one interaction between the candidate and the interviewer. Further, the interview questions can be customized based on the candidate’s response so as to asses a candidate’s fitness for the program.
