JIPMAT Exam Day Instructions 2026, Guidelines, Things to Carry

JIPMAT Exam Day Instructions 2026

The Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT) is a tough, all India entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Being the only ticket to the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu, excelling in the entrance examination is only part of the game. And year after year, candidates who spend months working through numerical problems fail to get into the examination room on account of carrying a missing document or wearing wrong shoes not permitted under the dress code or arriving twenty minutes late.

This article provides information about all the JIPMAT exam day instructions 2026 which includes necessary documents to be taken, dress code, tips to reach the exam center on right time and the security protocol at the exam center

JIPMAT Exam Day Instructions: Important Documents to Bring

The security person guarding the JIPMAT exam venue won't listen to any excuses; it's going to be a rigid adherence to cold, hard rules. Forfeit any one document and they will banish you from the gates, with no trace of sympathy. The candidates should pack the following non-negotiables in a clear, see-through plastic file the night before:

1. The JIPMAT 2026 Admit card:

Download this from the NTA's website (jipmat.nta.ac.in). Do not, under any circumstances, bring a hazy printout. It must be clear, sharp and in a colour printout on an A-4 sheet. Your photo, signature and venue details have to be clear.

2. Original Photo Identity proof:

Please, do not carry a photo-copy or a digital version of it on your phone as it will serve absolutely no purpose. A valid, original photo identity proof should be brought for all students. This can be:

  • Aadhaar card (the printed E-Aadhaar is acceptable)
  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • Driving License
  • Voter ID

3. Passport-sized photographs:

Pack two such photographs that look exactly like the picture submitted at the time of registration for JIPMAT 2026. You would be required to affix these photographs onto the admit card in the form of an attendance sheet on the exam day.

4. PwD Certificate:

Any candidate falling under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category must bring their official medical certificate of disability issued by appropriate medical authorities, along with the permitted scribe's documents.

JIPMAT Exam Day Instructions: Dress Code and What to Wear

Your sense of fashion isn’t really important to NTA, it's security that has their obsessive attention. To foil the cheating syndicates they have a strict dress code, which favors minimal and very straight forward apparel. Follow it closely and get through the frisking process seamlessly.

The Green Light: What to Wear

  • Top- wear: A simple plain T-shirt or shirt. Should be short-sleeved, so no buttoned full sleeves. No exaggerated graphics on clothes, large lettering or heavily pocketed clothing.
  • Bottom wear: Wear basic pants, regular jeans or simple leggings. Absolutely no cargo pants with so many pockets.
  • Footwear: only slippers or very basic flat sandals.

The Red Light: What to leave at home

  • High Sole Foot wear: No sports shoes with exceptionally thick soles or heavy boots, these will cause a security check failure and you'll be made to walk barefoot in case the security finds your boots similar to platform boots.
  • Heavy garments and hoodies: Don't carry jackets, sweatshirts, or woolen cardigans etc. To the exam center. If you prefer wearing religious clothing, carry that and report an hour prior for alternative but equally efficient screening of it.
  • Metallic ornaments: No rings, nose-pins or earrings will be permitted. All bracelets, necklaces and metallic accessories in hair will be asked to be removed.
  • Gadgets and Caps:No smartwatches, traditional analog watches or fitness trackers, sunglasses and caps of any kind will be permitted.

JIPMAT Exam Day Instructions: How to Reach the Exam Centre on Time

Since it is a Computer Based Test, you will be bound by an uncompromising automated master clock, the second it strikes the hour the gate closes and neither the school staff nor anybody on the site can open the gate. If you report any later you will not be allowed to enter.

Pre-Plan the Exam:

  • Check your centre: Don't be dependent on a GPS map and get directions in the morning, fire it up the previous day or even visit the center physically to know your route. Know all the turns on the way.
  • Beating the gate: Check the 'Reporting Time' and the 'Gate closing Time' printed on your hall ticket. Try to be seated somewhere outside the venue at least an hour and a half to two hours prior to when you are supposed to, so as to ensure you don't reach after the gate is closed.
  • Buffer for extreme circumstances: Road blocks and traffic jams will be there, flats on tires will occur or there could be extreme weather conditions; therefore, make sure you have a buffer of at least 45 minutes over and above your usual traveling time.

JIPMAT Exam Day Instructions: Security Check and Entry Process

Your passage to the exam hall involves navigating a multi-tiered security protocol. Maintain your composure as you proceed through the sequence.

Arrival → Queue → Admit Card & ID Check → Body Frisking → Biometric Registration → Seat Allocation

1. Initial Verification at Gate:

You'll be stopped at the exam center gate and asked to present your JIPMAT 2026 Admit Card and a matching ID. Parents and friends will have to stop at the gate-the journey forward is yours alone.

2. Physical Frisking:

A careful pat-down using handheld metal detectors is performed. Clear out your pockets and bags to help expedite the process.

3. Digital Registration:

You'll proceed to a registration counter after the initial entry, where your photograph is taken and your digital fingerprint is captured. This data ties your biometrics to your question paper.

4. Banned Items:

Make sure you have left all of the following items behind at home or with your parents:

  • Technology: Phones, Bluetooth devices, chargers, calculators, pagers.
  • Paper: Books, notes, cutouts, geometry boxes, log tables (scratch pads and pens are provided).
  • Other: Wallets, heavy keyrings, food items (unless medically required for diabetics and accompanied by proper certification)

JIPMAT Exam Day Instructions: Tips to Stay Calm and Focused

The JIPMAT tests your mental endurance just as much as it tests your data interpretation skills. Panic kills performance. Here is how you retain your focus as the heat rises:

  • Ensure Deep Sleep: Do not pull an all-nighter. Trying to learn complicated math formulas at 3:00 AM is like deliberately slowing down your brain's processors. Aim for a steady 7 to 8 hours of sleep.
  • Eat Smart: Have a normal, balanced breakfast. Do not opt for a greasy, experimental, or excessively heavy meal that may induce a major sugar crash within the 150 minutes of testing.
  • Stay Away from Gate Talk: You will likely see clusters of nervous students discussing formulas or exit cutoffs as you wait outside the testing center. Turn your back and walk away. This frantic energy is catching and can definitely make you question your abilities.
  • Smooth Tech Troubleshooting: Systems crash; mice malfunction; screens go blank. If your terminal goes down, do not fluster yourself. Immediately raise your hand. The central server records down to the microsecond and your clock stops ticking the moment the system crashes. You'll get all of that lost time back when they swap terminals.

JIPMAT Exam Day Instructions 2026: Conclusion

JIPMAT Exam Day Instructions 2026 are very important for every candidate appearing for the entrance exam. Along with preparation, students must follow all rules related to the admit card, valid ID proof, dress code, reporting time and banned items. A small mistake, such as carrying the wrong document or reaching late, can create problems at the exam centre.

Candidates should keep all required documents ready one day before the exam and plan their travel in advance. Following the JIPMAT 2026 exam day guidelines will help students enter the centre smoothly, stay relaxed and focus better on their performance during the test.
