Getting into top IIMs to pursue MBA is a dream for many aspirants. IIM Lucknow is one of those top IIMs. It is one of the most prestigious b-schools in India. The selection criteria at the IIMs are based on the CAT score, Overall academic record, Work experience, Gender diversity, and the performance of the candidate in the Written Ability Test (WAT) and the Personal Interview (PI). IIM Lucknow has updated its admission criteria for PGP and PGP-ABM programs for the admission of batch 2023-2025. CAT 2022 score weightage has reduced to 30% in the final selection stage of IIM Lucknow admissions. The Common Selection process at the Top IIMs
The selection process at the top IIMs is broadly divided into two stages. In detail, let us check out the stages in the selection process at the top IIMs.
Stage 1:Â Candidates are shortlisted for the interviews based on their CAT score and other factors like academic records, work experience, etc. Interview letters are sent to the shortlisted candidate.
Parameters for selection in stage 1:
1. CAT Percentile
2. Academics (10th, 12th, and Graduation scores)
3. Work experience
4. Gender Diversity
Stage 2: The second stage is where the colleges select based on WAT-PI. A Composite Score is calculated for the Final Selection. The composite score of each candidate is calculated (usually out of 100) based on specific parameters, and the final selection list will be made.

In detail, let us look at the admission criteria for the 2023-2025 PGP and PGP-ABM programmes batch. As there are 2 stages in the selection process, in stage one, candidates must reach the sectional and overall CAT 2022 cutoff, which is considered along with the previous academics, work experience and other criteria, which will be seen as follows.

Stage 1b:
Composite Score Calculation for Shortlisting for the WAT-PI Stage
Only for the candidates who meet the above sectional and overall cutoff, the composite scores shall be computed based on the factors such as CAT score, Overall academic record, Work experience, Gender diversity, etc. This information is available on the official website of IIM Lucknow.
@For the candidates appearing in their final year examination, the marks up to one year before the final examinations (for instance, up to the second year for a three-year degree course and up to the third year for a four-year degree course) shall be considered for the entire admission process. However, such candidates will still have to secure the minimum percentage of marks in their graduation examination as per the CAT 2022 eligibility criteria.
* The maximum marks for the diversity factors (DFa and DFb) cannot exceed 20 for the PGP-ABM program.
# The candidates seeking admission to PGP-ABM/ PGP-SM programs need to fill up and submit the ‘Special PGP-ABM/ PGPSM form’ mandatorily by the stipulated deadline. Else, such candidates shall not be considered for the WAT-PI process for PGP-ABM/ PGP-SM programs.
$ The work experience, as on July 31, 2022, entered at the time of CAT-2022 registration, will be considered final for the admission process. Only full-time work experience after graduation will be considered for assigning the marks for work experience. The work experience will be verified based on the relevant documents (including experience certificate, appointment letter/relieving letter, first & last pay slips, bank statement, etc.) to be produced by the candidate at the time of WAT-PI and subsequent admission-related processes.
Stage 1c:
Scheduling for WAT-PI Stage
A shortlist will be made available on the official website of IIM Lucknow based on the composite score of the candidates. The shortlisted candidates shall be required to fill in and submit the WAT-PI form online by the prescribed deadline. The candidates, who fail to submit their WAT-PI form online by the prescribed time limit, shall not be allowed for the WAT-PI process.
Stage 2: Final Selection of candidates for the PGP/PGP-ABM Programmes
A candidate’s final score for selection in PGP/PGP-ABM program for the batch 2023 – 25 will be calculated based on the assigned weights shown in the below table.
