Question 94

The average weight of Sopan, Guruprasad and Rima is 65 kg. If the average weight of Sopan and Guruprasad be 67 kg and that of Guruprasad and Rima be 57 kg, then the weight of Guruprasad is

Solution

Let respective weights of Sopan, Guruprasad and Rima is $$s , g , r$$ kg

Average weight of the three = $$\frac{s + g + r}{3} = 65$$

=> $$s + g + r = 65 \times 3 = 195$$ kg --------------(i)

Similarly, Total weight of Sopan and Guruprasad = $$s + g = 67 \times 2 = 134$$ kg ---------------(ii)

Total weight of Guruprasad and Rima = $$g + r = 57 \times 2 = 114$$ kg -------------(iii)

Adding equations(ii) and (iii), => $$s + 2g + r = 134 + 114 = 248$$ ---------------(iv)

Subtracting equation (i) from (iv), we get :

=> $$g = 248 - 195 = 53$$ kg

=> Ans - (B)
