The average weight of Sudesh, Jyothi and Ritu is 89 kg. If the average weight of Sudesh and Jyothi be 98 kg and that of Jyothi and Ritu be 83 kg, then the weight of Jyothi is

Solution

Let respective weights of Sudesh, Jyothi and Ritu is $$s , j , r$$ kg

Average weight of the three = $$\frac{s + j + r}{3} = 89$$

=> $$s + j + r = 89 \times 3 = 267$$ kg --------------(i)

Similarly, Total weight of Sudesh and Jyothi = $$s + j = 98 \times 2 = 196$$ kg ---------------(ii)

Total weight of Jyothi and Ritu = $$j + r = 83 \times 2 = 166$$ kg -------------(iii)

Adding equations(ii) and (iii), => $$s + 2j + r = 196 + 166 = 362$$ ---------------(iv)

Subtracting equation (i) from (iv), we get :

=> $$j = 362 - 267 = 95$$ kg

=> Ans - (C)
