A villager buys a goat and a sheep together for Rs 14,250. He sold the sheep at a profit of 10% and the goat at a loss of 20%. If he sold both the animals at the same price , then what was the cost price of the cheaper animal?
Let cost price of goat be x and cost price of sheep be yÂ
Now by condition we get:
x+y =14,250 (1)
Now selling price of goat =0.8xÂ
And selling price of sheep =1.1y
Now by condition we get 1.1y=0.8x
0.8x-1.1y =0
Solving both we get
y=6000, x=8250
So the cost price of cheaper animal is 6000
