A shopkeeper, sold walnuts at the rate Rs 1,190 a kg and bears a loss of 10%. Now if he decides to sell it at Rs 1,249.5 per kg, what will be the result?
Let Cost price = Rs. $$x$$
Selling price = Rs. 1190
=> Loss % = $$\frac{x - 1190}{x} \times 100 = 10$$
=> $$\frac{x - 1190}{x} = \frac{10}{100} = \frac{1}{10}$$
=> $$10x - 11900 = x$$
=> $$x = \frac{11900}{9} = 1322.22$$
If selling price = Rs. 1249.5
=> Loss % = $$\frac{1322.22 - 1249.5}{1322.22} \times 100 \approx 5.5\% $$
