Study the following graph carefully to answer the given questions.
Number of candidates who qualified in a given competitive examination from 6 states during two given years :
The number of qualified candidates from state P increased by 15% from 2005 to 2006 and by 25% from 2006 to 2007. If the number of qualified candidates from state P in 2007 is 80% of appeared candidates from that particular state, how many candidates appeared from state P for the given competitive exam in 2007?
In 2005, number of qualified candidates from state P = 320
In 2006 = $$\frac{115}{100} \times 320 = 368$$
In 2007 = $$\frac{125}{100} \times 368 = 460$$
Let the appeared candidates in 2007 = $$x$$
Acc. to ques, => $$\frac{80}{100} x = 460$$
=> $$x = 460 \times \frac{5}{4} = 575$$
