Solution
Total number of qualified candidates from state R in 2004 and 2005
= $$160 + 500 = 660$$
Let the appeared candidates = $$x$$
=> $$\frac{75}{100} x = 660$$
=> $$x = 660 \times \frac{4}{3} = 880$$
