Question 83

In an election between two candidates, the winning candidate has got 70% of the votes polled and has won by 15400 votes. What is the number of votes polled for loosing candidate?

Solution

Let the total votes polled in the election = $$100x$$

Votes polled for winning candidate = $$\frac{70}{100}\times100x=70x$$

=> Votes polled for losing candidate = $$100x-70x=30x$$

According to ques, => $$70x-30x=15400$$

=> $$x=\frac{15400}{40}=385$$

$$\therefore$$ Number of votes polled for loosing candidate = $$30\times385=11550$$

=> Ans - (B)
