Question 80

If 7x + 2 ≥ x - 2 and 7 + 2x ≥ 3 + 3x; then x can take which of the following values?

Solution

Expression 1 : 7x + 2 ≥ x - 2

=> $$7x-x \geq -2-2$$

=> $$6x \geq -4$$

=> $$x \geq \frac{-2}{3}$$ ---------(i)

Expression 2 : 7 + 2x ≥ 3 + 3x

=> $$3x-2x \leq 7-3$$

=> $$x \leq 4$$ --------(ii)

Combining inequalities (i) and (ii), we get : $$\frac{-2}{3} \leq x \leq 4$$

The only value that $$x$$ can take among the options = 3

=> Ans - (B)
