Question 79

Coefficient of $$x^2$$  in (x + 7)(5 - 3x)(3x - 6) is

Solution

A coefficient is a numerical or constant quantity placed before and multiplying the variable in an algebraic expression. Eg : In $$ax^2$$, coefficient is $$a$$

Expression : $$(x + 7)(5 - 3x)(3x - 6)$$

= $$(5x - 3x^2 + 35 - 21x)(3x - 6)$$

= $$(-3x^2 - 16x + 35)(3x - 6)$$

= $$3x(-3x^2 - 16x + 35) - 6(-3x^2 - 16x + 35)$$

= $$-9x^3 - 48x^2 + 105x + 18x^2 + 96x - 210$$

= $$-9x^3 - 30x^2 + 201x - 210$$

$$\therefore$$ Coefficient of $$x^2$$ = -30

=> Ans - (B)
