Question 76

A student multiplied a number by 6/7 instead of 7/6. What is the percentage error in the calculation?

Solution

Let the number be 42

When the student multiplied it by 6/7, => original result = $$\frac{6}{7} \times 42 = 36$$

When the student multiply it by 7/6, => New result = $$\frac{7}{6} \times 42 = 49$$

=> Percentage error in calculation = $$\frac{(49 - 36)}{49} \times 100$$

= $$\frac{1300}{49} = 26.53\%$$

=> Ans - (B)
