Question 74

When 50% of a number A is added to B, the second number B increases by 25%. The ratio between the numbers A and B is:

Solution

According to the problem,

$$\frac{50}{100}\times$$A + B $$=$$ B + $$\frac{25}{100}\times$$B

$$\Rightarrow$$  $$\frac{50}{100}$$A + B $$=$$ $$\frac{125}{100}$$B

$$\Rightarrow$$  $$\frac{50}{100}$$A $$=$$ $$\frac{125}{100}$$B - B

$$\Rightarrow$$  $$\frac{50}{100}$$A $$=$$ $$\frac{25}{100}$$B

$$\Rightarrow$$  $$\frac{A}{B}=\frac{1}{2}$$

$$\Rightarrow$$  A : B = 1 : 2

Hence, the correct answer is Option A
