Question 71

The lengths of the parallel sides of a trapezium are 10 cm and 20 cm. If the distance between these parallel lines is 5 cm, then what is the area of the trapezium?

area of the trapezium = $$\frac{1}{2}\times$$ sum of the lengths of the parallel sides of a trapezium $$\times$$ distance between parallel sides

The lengths of the parallel sides of a trapezium are 10 cm and 20 cm. If the distance between these parallel lines is 5 cm.

area of the trapezium = $$\frac{1}{2}\times(10+20)\times5$$

= $$\frac{1}{2}\times 30 \times5$$

= $$15\times5$$

= 75 $$cm^2$$
