A alone can do a work in 30 days. B alone can do the same workin 40 days. If they work on alternate days starting with A, then in how many days(correct up to two places of decimal) the work will be completed?

Solution

When A & B work together , their two days work would be

$$\frac{1}{30} + \frac{1}{40} = \frac{7}{120}$$

The work will be completed in $$\frac{120}{7} \times 2$$ = 34.25

So , the answer would be option d)34.25
