25 litres of a mixture contains 30%of spirit and rest water. If 5 litres of water be mixed in it, the percentage of spirit in the new mixture is :

Solution

Quantity of spirit = $$25\times \frac{30}{100} = 7.5$$

Quantity of water = 25 - 7.5 = 17.5

After mixed up quantity of mixture = 25 + 5 = 30

Percentage of spirit = $$\frac{7.5}{30} \times 100$$ = 25%
