The profit earned on selling a book for ₹450 is the same as the loss incurred on selling it for ₹390.

$$selling\ price_1 - cost\ price = cost\ price - selling\ price_2$$

$$450-cost\ price = cost\ price-390$$

$$450+390 = cost\ price + cost\ price$$

$$2 \times cost\ price = 840$$

$$cost\ price = 420$$

So the Cost price of the book = ₹420
