What is the mean batting average per batsman?
For the different ranges of batting average, we can take averages of those.
40-44 ==>$$\frac{40+44}{2}\ =\ 42$$
44-48 ==>Â $$\frac{44+48}{2}\ =\ 46$$
48-52 ==>Â $$\frac{48+52}{2}\ =\ 50$$
52-56 ==>Â $$\frac{52+56}{2}\ =\ 54$$
56-60 ==>Â $$\frac{56+60}{2}\ =\ 58$$
Mean batting average per batsman =Â $$\frac{42\times12+46\times10+50\times8+54\times6+58\times4}{12+10+8+6+4}$$
=Â $$\frac{504+460+400+324+232}{40}$$
=Â $$\frac{1920}{40}$$
= 48
