Question 64

Ravi's monthly salary is ₹16,000. He spends 30% of his salary on rent, 20% of his salary on education. 60% of the remaining amount is invested in mutual funds. Find the amount invested in mutual funds in a month.

Solution

Ravi's monthly salary is ₹16,000. He spends 30% of his salary on rent, 20% of his salary on education.

Remaining salary (after the expenditure of rent and education) = 16,000 of (100-30-20)%

= 16,000 of (100-50)%

= 16,000 of 50%

= $$16,000\times\frac{50}{100}$$

= 8000

60% of the remaining amount is invested in mutual funds.

Amount invested in mutual funds in a month = 8000 of 60%

= $$8000\times\frac{60}{100}$$

= ₹4,800
