The number of boys in a class is 45% of the total number of students in the class.

number of boys in a class = 45% of 100y

= 45y

If the number of girls in the class is 33.

number of girls in the class = (100y-45y) = 33

55y = 33

5y = 3

y = 0.6

Number of boys in the class = 45y

= $$45\times0.6$$

= 27
