Question 61

In X's opinion, his weight is greater than 60 kg but less than 68 kg, Y doesn't agree with him and says that X's weight is more than 62 kg but less than 70 kg. The mother of X believes that the weight of X is greater than 64 kg.If all of them are correct in their estimation, then what is the average of different probable weights of X if the weight is an integer?

Solution

Probable weights of X in X's opinion = 61,62,63,64,65,66,67 kg
Probable weight of X in X and Y's opinion = 63,64,65,66,67 kg
Probable weight of X in all three people's opinion = 65,66,67 kg
Therefore, Required average = $$\dfrac{65+66+67}{3} = \dfrac{198}{3} = 66$$ kg
