In a class of 50 students and 6 teachers, each student got a number of chocolates that is equal to 16% of the total number of students, and each teacher got a number of chocolates that is equal to 12% of the total number of students. How many chocolates were there in total?
In a class of 50 students and 6 teachers, each student got a number of chocolates that is equal to 16% of the total number of students.
number of chocolates got by each student = 16% of total number of students
= 16% of 50
= $$\frac{16}{100}\times50$$
= 8
number of chocolates got by all the students taken together = $$8\times50$$ = 400 Eq.(i)
Each teacher got a number of chocolates that is equal to 12% of the total number of students.
number of chocolates got by each teacher = 12% of total number of students
= 12% of 50
= $$\frac{12}{100}\times50$$
= 6
number of chocolates got by all the teachers taken together = $$6\times6$$ = 36 Eq.(ii)
Total number of chocolates = Eq.(i)+Eq.(ii)
= 400+36
= 436
