Rohit scored an average of 58 runs in his last five innings. The runs scored by Rohit in the last four innings are 42, 56, 72, and 40. How many runs did Rohit score in the first of these five innings?

Rohit scored an average of 58 runs in his last five innings.
Total run scored by Rohit in his last five innings = $$58\times5$$
= 290 Eq.(i)
The runs scored by Rohit in the last four innings are 42, 56, 72, and 40.
Total run scored by Rohit in his last four innings = 42+56+72+40 = 210 Eq.(ii)
Runs scored by Rohit in the first of these five innings = Eq.(i)-Eq.(ii)
= 290-210
= 80
