A grocer has a sale of ₹ 3,425, ₹ 3,810, ₹ 3,155 and ₹ 3,610 in 4 consecutive days. How much sale should he have in the 5th day so as to get an average sale of ₹ 3,500?

Solution

Total sale for 4 days = 3425+3810+3155+3610 = Rs.14000
Let the sale for 5th day be Rs.x
$$\dfrac{14000+x}{5} = 3500$$
=> $$1400+x = 17500 => x = Rs.3500$$
