15 kg of grapes, in which 90% of the content was water, were kept in sunlight. In presence of sunlight, the water content reduced to such an extent that now only 85% of the total weight of the grapes was water. Find the total reduced weight of the grapes.
15 kg of grapes, in which 90% of the content was water.
content of water in the grapes initially = 15 kg of 90%
=Â $$15\times\frac{90}{100}$$
= 13.5 kg
content other than water in the grapes initially = (15-13.5) kg = 1.5 kg
In presence of sunlight, the water content was reduced to such an extent that now only 85% of the total weight of the grapes was water.
Now content other than water in the grapes = (100-85)% = 1.5 kg [It will be the same as earlier. Because only the water is reduced due to sunlight.]
15% = 1.5 kg
1% =Â $$\frac{1.5}{15}$$
Total reduced weight of the grapes = 100% =Â Â $$\frac{1.5}{15}\times100$$
=Â $$\frac{15}{150}\times100$$
= 10 kgÂ
