If 3 dupatta is offered free on purchase of 6 dupattas priced Rs 1200 each what is the effective discount on each dupatta?

Solution

Cost price of 1 dupatta = Rs. 1200

Cost price of 9 dupattas = $$9 \times 1200 = Rs. 10,800$$

If 3 dupattas are offered free on purchase of 6 dupattas, => Cost of 6 dupattas = $$6 \times 1200 = Rs. 7,200$$

=> Effective discount = $$\frac{10800 - 7200}{10800} \times 100$$

= $$\frac{3600}{108} = 33.33\%$$
