Question 53

A train without stoppage travels with an average speed of 50 km/h, and with stoppage, it travels with an average speed of 40 km/h. For how many minutes does the train stop on an average per hour?

with stoppage 50 km/hr

without stoppage 40 km/hr

taking LCM 200

now with stoppage it takes $$\frac{200}{40}$$=5 hrs and without stoppage it takes$$\frac{200}{50}$$= 4 hrs

difference(stoppages) is of 1 hrs means in the trip of 5 hours 1 hours spent on stoppages

therefore per hour train stop for= $$\frac{1}{5}\times\ 60=12\ \min s$$
