A alone can do a piece of work in 30 days. B alone can do the same work in 60 days.If they work together for five days, what fraction of the work will be left?

Solution

A alone can do a piece of work in 30 days.

B alone can do the same work in 60 days

Together they can complete the work in 20 days.

($$\frac{1}{30} + \frac{1}{60} = \frac{3}{60} = \frac{1}{20}$$)

If they work together for 5 days ,

amount of work done = 5 $$\times \frac{1}{20} = \frac{1}{4}$$

Amount of work left = 1 - $$\frac{1}{4} = \frac{3}{4}$$

So, the answer would be option c)$$\frac{3}{4}$$
