Question 43

In a certain code language, 'POM' is coded as '43', and 'HAN' is coded as '22'. How will 'BRO' be coded in that language?

Solution

The sum of the place values of the letters within the work is subtracted by one to obtain the code.

POM ==> 16+15+13 = 44 ==> (44-1) = 43
HAN ==> 8+1+14 = 23 ==> (23-1) = 22

BRO ==> 2+18+15 = 35 ==> (35-1) = 34

Hence 'BRO' will be coded as 34.
