Question 38

The average weight of Shubha, Govinda and Reshma is 65 kg. If the average weight of Shubha and Govinda be 63 kg and that of Govinda and Reshma be 70 kg, then the weight of Govinda is

Let respective weights of Shubha, Govinda and Reshma is $$s , g , r$$ kg

Average weight of the three = $$\frac{s + g + r}{3} = 65$$

=> $$s + g + r = 65 \times 3 = 195$$ kg --------------(i)

Similarly, Total weight of Shubha and Govinda = $$s + g = 63 \times 2 = 126$$ kg ---------------(ii)

Total weight of Govinda and Reshma = $$g + r = 70 \times 2 = 140$$ kg -------------(iii)

Adding equations(ii) and (iii), => $$s + 2g + r = 126 + 140 = 266$$ ---------------(iv)

Subtracting equation (i) from (iv), we get :

=> $$g = 266 - 195 = 71$$ kg

=> Ans - (B)
