A horse is tied to a post by a rope. If the horse moves along a circular path always keeping the rope stretched and describes 88 metres when it has traced out 72C at the centre, the length of the rope is $$(Take\pi=\frac{22}{7})$$

Solution

Let 'r' be the length of rope.
Angle traced at the centre=72°
$$\theta=2\pi\times{\frac{72°}{180°}}$$
$$\theta=\frac{2\pi}{5}$$
$$r\theta=d$$ ('d' is the distance travelled by horse)
$$r=\frac{88\times7\times5}{2\times22}$$
$$r=70$$ m
Hence, Correct answer is Option A.
