Question 30

If ‘-’ stands for ‘division’, ‘+’ stands for ‘multiplication’, ‘÷’ stands for ‘subtraction’, ‘×’ stands for ‘addition’, then which one of the following equations is correct ?

Solution

(A) : 36 × 4- 12 + 5 ÷3=420

$$\equiv36+4\div12\times5-3=420$$

L.H.S. = $$36+\frac{5}{3}-3=\frac{104}{3}\neq$$ R.H.S.

(B) : 52 ÷ 4 + 5 × 8-2 = 36

$$\equiv52-4\times5+8\div2=36$$

L.H.S. = $$52-20+4=36=$$ R.H.S.

=> Ans - (B)
