Question 29

Read the given statements and conclusions carefully. Assuming that the information given in the statements is true, even if it appears to be at variance with commonly known facts, decide which of the given conclusions logically follow(s) from the statements.

Statements:
Some apples are oranges.
No orange is a grape.

Conclusions:
I. Some grapes are apples.
II. Some oranges are apples.

Solution

Conclusion: I. Some grapes are apples.

Only we can say that 'some apple are not grapes.'. But we don't have information about the positive relationship between them. So the given conclusion does not follow.

Conclusion: II. Some oranges are apples.

The given conclusion follows. Because it is clearly visible in the venn diagram.

So Only conclusion II follows.
