Question 28

The mean of marks secured by 35 students in division A of class X is 65, 45 students of division B is 61 and that of 70 students of division C is 59. What is the mean of marks of the students of three divisions of Class X?

Solution

Total marks secured by 35 students in division A = 35 $$\times$$ 65 = 2275

Total marks secured by 45 students in division B = 45 $$\times$$ 61 = 2745

Total marks secured by 70 students in division C = 70 $$\times$$ 59 = 4130

=> Mean of marks of the students of three divisions of Class X = $$\frac{(2275 + 2745 + 4130)}{(35 + 45 + 70)}$$

= $$\frac{9150}{150} = 61$$

=> Ans - (C)
