the above mentioned route can be traced as follows :

$$AE=\sqrt{4^{2}+3^{2}}=5km$$
the distance between A and E that is the start and the finish points will can be found out using the Pythagoras theorem.
$$\sqrt{3^{2}+4^{2}}=5$$
hence the correct answer is option A.
