Question 176

If the total cost of four tube lights and three bulbs is Rs. 260 and the ratio between the cost of a tube light and a bulb is 5 : 2 respectively, what is the total cost of one tube light and six bulbs ‘?

Solution

Let the cost of tube light be 5x and a bulb be 2x .

Given that , (4 * 5x) + (3 * 2x) = 260

=> 26x = 260

x = 10

Cost of 1 tube light and 6 bulbs = 5x + (6 * 2x)

= 17x = 17 * 10 = 170
