A boy walking at the speed of 3 km/hr covers a certain distance in 3 hours 40 minutes. If he covers the same distance by cycle in 11 hours, then what is the speed (in km/hr) of cycle?

Solution

Walking speed of boy = 3 km/hr

Distance covered by boy in 3 hours and 40 minutes = $$3\times(3\frac{40}{60})$$

= $$3\times(3+\frac{2}{3})=3\times\frac{11}{3}=11$$ km

Now, time taken to cover 11 km on cycle = 11 hours

=> Speed of cycle = $$\frac{11}{11}=1$$ km/hr

=> Ans - (A)
