Question 135

Study the given graph and answer the question that follows.

The total number of students obtaining less than 50 marks is what percentage more than the total number of students obtaining 60 marks or more (correct to one decimal place).

Solution

Total number of a student obtaining less than 50 marks

then total marks = 45 + 78 + 110 + 142 = 375

again the total number of a student obtaining more than 60 marks

so total = 120+ 100 +80 + 55 = 355

% more than = $$\dfrac {375-355}{355}\times 100 $$

$$\Rightarrow \dfrac {20}{355}\times 100 $$

$$\Rightarrow \dfrac {400}{71}$$

$$\Rightarrow 5.63 $$ %

$$\Rightarrow 5.6 $$% Ans
