Question 135

In a right-angled triangle ABC, ∠ABC = 90°, AB = 5 cm and BC = 12 cm. The radius of the circumcircle of the triangle ABC is

Solution

In $$\triangle$$ABC

=> AC = $$\sqrt{(AB)^2 + (BC)^2}$$

=> AC = $$\sqrt{5^2 + 12^2}$$ = $$\sqrt{169}$$

=> AC = 13 cm

In a right angled triangle, circumcentre lies on the mid point of hypotenuse.

=> circumradius = $$\frac{AC}{2}$$ = $$\frac{13}{2}$$ = 6.5 cm
