Question 112

Four of the following five parts numbered A, B, C, D and E in the following equation are exactly equal. The number of the part which is not equal to the other four is your answer.

Solution

The value of option (a) equals $$125 \div5 \times 3+6= 25 \times 3 + 6 = 75+6 =81$$

The value of option (b) equals $$256 \div4 +17= 64+17 = 81$$

The value of option (c) equals $$7^{2}\times 3 - 11\times 6 = 49\times 3 - 66 = 147-66=81$$

The value of option (d) equals $$18\times 7 -3^{2} \times 5 =126-9\times5=126-45=81$$

The value of option (e) equals $$192\div 12\times 5 + 2 =16\times5+2=80+2=82$$

Hence, the values of A,B,C and D are equal while the value of E is different.
