A boy buys 5 pencils at Rs 3 each, 3 erasers at Rs 2 each and 3 sharpeners at Rs 5 each. What is the average expenditure (in Rs) per article?

Solution

Price of 5 pencils = $$5\times3=Rs.$$ $$15$$

Price of 3 erasers = $$3\times2=Rs.$$ $$6$$

Price of 3 sharpeners = $$3\times5=Rs.$$ $$15$$

=> Average expenditure = $$\frac{15+6+15}{5+3+3}$$

= $$\frac{36}{11}=Rs.$$ $$3.27$$

=> Ans - (A)
