What is MAH MBA CET?

MAH MBA CET is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra for admission to MBA and MMS programs offered by various colleges and universities in Maharashtra. The exam is conducted in online mode and consists of 200 multiple-choice questions from four sections: Logical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension. The duration of the exam is 150 minutes and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

What is the MAH MBA CET Syllabus?

The MAH MBA CET syllabus is designed to test the candidates’ aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, and problem-solving skills. The Maharashtra State CET Cell will release the syllabus on its official website, cetcell.mahacet.org. The syllabus is divided into four sections, each having different topics and subtopics. It is based on the 10+2 level of education and covers the basic concepts of mathematics, logic, grammar, and vocabulary. It is similar to other MBA entrance exams like CAT and XAT, with the addition of the Abstract Reasoning section. The syllabus is as follows:

Logical Reasoning

This section tests the candidates’ ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate various types of information and arguments. The topics and subtopics covered in this section are:

  • Critical Reasoning: Assumptions, conclusions, inferences, arguments, course of action, etc.
  • Puzzle Sets: Arrangements, comparisons, classifications, sequencing, etc.
  • Seating Arrangement: Linear, circular, square, etc.
  • Syllogisms: Statements and conclusions, Venn diagrams, etc.
  • Blood Relations: Family tree, coded relations, etc.
  • Coding-Decoding: Letter, number, symbol, analogy, etc.
  • Input-Output: Machine input, stepwise output, etc.
  • Direction Sense: Distance, direction, movement, etc.
  • Data Sufficiency: Two or three statements and questions, etc.

The number of questions from this section is 75 and the suggested time to attempt it is 60 minutes.

Abstract Reasoning

This section tests the candidates’ ability to identify patterns, relationships, and similarities among abstract figures and shapes. The topics and subtopics covered in this section are:

  • Non-verbal reasoning: Series, analogy, classification, etc.
  • Venn Diagrams: Syllogisms, set theory, etc.
  • Odd One Out: Finding the dissimilar figure or shape, etc.
  • Standalone Questions: Based on logical and critical reasoning, etc.

The number of questions from this section is 25 and the suggested time to attempt it is 20 minutes.

Quantitative Aptitude

This section tests the candidates’ ability to perform numerical calculations, solve mathematical problems, and interpret data. The topics and subtopics covered in this section are:

  • Arithmetic: Percentage, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, discount, simple and compound interest, time and work, pipes & cisterns, time-speed and distance, trains, boats & streams, number system, LCM, HCF, age, mixtures & allegation.
  • Algebra: Linear and quadratic equations, permutations & combinations, inequalities, functions, logarithms, etc.
  • Geometry: Lines, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, polygons, mensuration, etc.
  • Trigonometry: Trigonometric ratios, identities, heights and distances, etc.
  • Modern Math: Permutation and combination, probability, set theory, maxima & minima, function, etc.
  • Data Interpretation: Tables, pie charts, line graphs, bar graphs, case lets, etc.

The number of questions from this section is 50 and the suggested time to attempt it is 45 minutes.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

This section tests the candidates’ ability to understand and use the English language effectively. The topics and subtopics covered in this section are:

  • Reading Comprehension: Passages on various topics, questions based on facts, inference, tone, etc.
  • Grammar: Parts of speech, tenses, subject-verb agreement, fill-in-the-blanks, prepositions, error detection, sentence completion, etc.
  • Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms, idioms, phrases, spellings, appropriate use of words in a sentence, etc.
  • Verbal Ability: Sentence correction, sentence completion, sentence rearrangement, para completion, para jumbles, etc.

The number of questions from this section is 50 and the suggested time to attempt it is 35 minutes.
